douginiraq Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Èverything was working ok, I use one laptop as several locations and uTorrent has been working ok. Two days ago all the torrents stopped downloading. I have tried all normal locations and no luck. All of the seeds read 0(xx) and and peers also 0(xx), for the first 24 hours or so the seeds read 0(0) and peers 0(xx). I am not sure what caused this. I have checked and the torrents have many seeds and peers showing on the selection list.Any ideas?Doug
insomni40 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Doug....Unfortunately this is what happens when you come to a greedy country that doesn't care about its consumers nor make a valiant effort to improve their technology.... Kuwait has a lot of money and you'd think that there would be many wifi spots and fast internet speeds but this is not the case..... I have been in third world countries where their internet is better "sad but true." As for what is going on it is "according to quality net" a "broken cable or pipe beneath the sea some where that is messing with the internet." Dude, I've been here for five years and this happens every damn year "at least once a year but sometimes even twice, and it can last from a few days to about a week." You'd think they would comp us for our lost internet time but these are the same money grubbing individuals that will have you pay a lot of money for 1mbps internet speed but you'll be lucky if you can get 65 kbps out of the 1 mbps you are paying for. Remember where you are! This is a country ruled by a royal family and most of these big time companies belong to them.... Some one once put it to me this way "This country is not a democratic country, it is a benevolent dictatorship".... LOL.... I thought about it and it makes sense... The little people do not matter but as soon as it messes with the royalty then things change "at least for them".... I apologize for the rant but I had to get that off of my chest...Send me a private message if you need more info
Switeck Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Harsh ISP throttling can be very hard to impossible to beat."Success" is measured by being able to use uTorrent at all.Determine if HTTP connections to trackers and tracker updates are being blocked. If so, you'll probably need access to a proxy server to get by that.
douginiraq Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 HTTP connections appear to be ok. I see working, time remaining and other status messages in various trackers and the seed/peer numbers keep changing. The downloads have been resumed, but at very diminished speed. Connecting only to 1-5 seeds of 12-7500 and similar peer connection ratio. I belive this is why the downloads are slow, but how can I increase the number of seed/peer connections?Number of connections in preferences:Global Max 200Max peers per torrent 100number of upload slots 10Global Download Rate Limiting [0:unlimited] set at 0Any ideas?
