seeding problem

I have been a user of utorrent for a while now but recently came across this problem. I can download a torrent fine but recently when i try to seed i get nothing there dead i tried port forwarding to see if it was my router and every time i get port is closed. But it continues to download fine is there a setting in the options i am missing. I'm to the point of switching torrent down loaders cause my ration is going down. Please Help
