roysubs
Please help. If I rebuild my system, I lose all of my uTorrent settings since these are hardcoded to C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\uTorrent. Please can you tell me a way to move the dht.dat, resume.dat and settings.dat so that uTorrent uses them from D:\ ???I normally move all of my uTorrent settings to my chosen folders on D: ...D:\Downloads - Incomplete\ for my downloading filesD:\Downloads\ to move completed files toBut, if I lose my system and reinstall, I lose my dht.dat, resume.dat and settings.dat. I run everything outside of my C: drive so that I can reghost it easily, but the uTorrent files seem hard-coded to C:. Please help me to move them outside of C: so that anyone who rebuilds their system never needs to worry about losing all of their uTorrent settings ?Thanks / Regards Roy. twinlight
Make a backup of the files and then put them in the same folder again after you have reinstalled Windows?
roysubs
yes, but that kind of misses the point ...what if C: crashes and is a completely unbootable mess ? ...if the dht.dat etc files can be relocated to your raid D: drive no problem, just reghost C: or reinstall C: and uTorrent is up and running *with all of your old settings* in seconds !a way to say to uTorrent "keep all my configuration files on D:\Downloads\Settings" (or wherever) would be far far far preferable to having it hardcoded in C:\Documents and Settings right ?one of the beautiful things about uTorrent is that it's a single executable ... at least until you realise that it hardcodes it's configuration files into the C:\Documents and Settings folder !!! I'm *assuming* / *hoping* that the writers allow the settings files to be moved, but hopefully someone can tell me ?
kerson
Put the .dat files in the same folder as µTorrent.exe

splintax
You had to beat me to it, DWK. I think you'll find there's a lot of stuff in %appdata% that you don't want to lose, so try moving it to your D: drive by using a folder redirection policy.
