zlo2 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Hello,I realize this may sound a little stupid but lately I've been noticing that the more seeders the torrent has the slower the download speed is for me. Just a week ago I downloaded a file with 10 seeders at 200 kbps and right now I'm trying to download a file with almost 1000 seeders and 2000 peers and I'm not getting more than 2-5 kbps. And it happens a lot to me. Of course this is most likely a weird coincidence, or is it?It is really frustrating because my connection is capable of high speeds but for some reason I rarely see them. . . especially when hear some people are downloading at 500-1000 kbps.Any possible solutions to my problem? All ideas welcome. Thanks
thelittlefire Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Why are you trying to connect to 1000 peers?
Switeck Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Bell ADSL ISP in Canada heavily cripples BitTorrent traffic. So, too many connections at once cuts into the max download+upload speed that Bell DOES give. Those really fast downloaders are often UPLOADING very fast as well. It HAS to balance -- for every 100 KB/sec someone is downloading there has to be at least 100 KB/sec upload from others.
zlo2 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 Thank you, that explain a lot actually.
