inthismind
Ok, so I was not able to find a topic on UPnP. Here is the issue, when I have UPnP selected I have a green light on my connections. Once I have unselected the UPnP option I get a yellow light. The ports are set to open and incoming and outgoing are enabled on the ActionTec GT701-WG Router. I have went through and reset the ports that are used by uT/Mac, ah hell I have reset default setting on the router, reinstalled the firmware and re-customized the settings, but the issue with UPnP described above occurs again. Also I should note that the router's advanced settings are only accessible through MS Windows and Firewall and UPnP settings are off. Any ideas or has anyone had this issue? leifer16
I'm having this same problem. I can still download with the yellow light, but it's still slow.
Siddhartha
What`s your problem in detail? From the aspect of connectivity - use UPnP. It works. Same with your firmware. It works. Hint: Never change a running system (especially the firmware, although this has been improved a lot during the last years). You can do it once, ok, everything`s fine. Do it twice. Lucky. At your third unneccessary attempt to down-up-date your firmware it may crush. Shit happens. UPnP: It means Universal Plug and Play and if both sides are checked, then they can easily handle the way they communicate. Usually that`s it and you don`t have to manually port forward. It`s a case of security risk, nevertheless. If your router`s settings are accessible through your browser - then how comes your advanced router`s settings are only accessible with Windows? O.oDoes your router allow incoming/outgoing connections (TCP/UDP)? Does your firewall allow incoming connections? Have you taken the same port for uTorrent and your router? inthismind
First sorry about not responding until now. The issue described in my first post is about as detailed as I can get with the problem.Answers: ? 1 - Very true on the UPnP, but I am experienced user on routers and know how to properly work with a router. The main reason I do not like to have UPnP activated is do to connectivity problems with other systems using the router specially any system that runs Windows XP, which there are two. If the router worked properly i.e. have access to advanced settings, I would have not reinstalled the firmware and same goes for the settings.? 2 - Even though it was not a question, I have both activated. The reason for manual port setting is for multiple systems on the network. The ports set to open on the router is 1-65999.? 3 - That is what I am trying to figure out: Why some settings are accessible in Windows and not in OS 10.5.6, I have both TCP and UDP set to manual ports and the programs are set to access to the ports set in the router. I have rechecked and rechecked the settings and even had a friend who is an advanced network engineer take a look to make sure before I posted on the forum. The green light only happens when I have UPnP is selected in uT/Mac. I should have stated that the router is four years old and my friend suggest this might be the issue to begin with. I will not know until I get a new router and I am back @ the house to hook everything back up. Will let the forum know about a week from now what the outcome was.
