jarthel
I have a socks server running in my box. I have set utorrent to use my socks server and have ticked "use proxy for p2p connections".when I ran sysinternal's tcpview to see all the connections being made by utorrent, it seems utorrent is making direct connections to the other peer instead of connecting through my socks proxy.is this normal?thank you
Firon
Did you set the proxy after you started your torrents? You should restart the client to ensure all outgoing connections go through the proxy. On top of that, you'll wanna block incoming connections to ensure nothing bypasses the proxy. ShadowTek
DHT will make direct connections from your local IP. Have you disabled it?
Switeck
Have you also disabled Local Peer Discovery and Resolve IPs?If you have a router, don't port forward the listening port uTorrent is using.
Firon
DHT doesn't directly make connections, but it will "leak" your non-proxied IP.
ShadowTek
I noticed utorrent making direct connections from my local IP when I had DHT enabled (and auto-update disabled), in spite of the fact that I had assigned a valid proxy for use with all peer communications. Once I disabled DHT, I never saw a single outgoing connection from my local IP by utorrent.I've brought this up before:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=50693
Firon
DHT is not proxied.
ShadowTek
Anyway, my point was that enabling DHT resulted in connections from my local IP, and disabling DHT stopped connections from my local IP.I'm simply commenting on behaviour that I have observed.
