Moving Torrents and Partial Files to New Computer

Recommended Posts

Ok guys I know, I know "read this:http://www.utorrent.com/migration_guide.php".

This is an extremely useful and very well written guide, however, I still would like someone to explain (step by step) what I should do in my situation.

Ok so here it goes.

I have an older computer with two hard drives, one 300 GB (J: ) that serves as the boot drive, and one 750 GB (C: ) that serves as storage and also has all of my files from utorrent (about 350 GB). But I have the utorrent program installed on J: So all of my data would be in "J:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\uTorrent" right?

Well here's my problem.

Do I move the entire hard drive to the new computer and let windows assign it a drive letter other than C:?

Using a external portable hard drive slowly transfer all of the files from the old computer's C: to the new one's C:?

Which solution would be easier? I starting to think the first one but what would I need to do since the drive will be assigned a new letter?

Would I need to do something like this? http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-guides-and-tutorials-65/t-utorrent-move-your-torrents-easily-and-effortlessly-310286

Sorry guys I know you get asked these questions all of the time, but thank you in advance.
