Talon19892 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 My download speed seems to have strange fluctuations. On one download, I had about 8 seeders and my download speed was about 26 kb/s (I have a slow internet connection) but when I had 12 seeders, my download speed was 5 kb/s. Then I got about 27 seeders, and my download speed went up to 25 kb/s. This kind of thing has happened on several downloads, where at a certain point in acquiring seeders the download speed drops like it's the uncanny valley of downloads. What's going on?
Switeck Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Your ISP is probably anti-BitTorrent, and throttling/disrupting it.
Talon19892 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Report Posted January 11, 2009 So you're saying my internet provider might intentionally be making uTorrent download slower?
Switeck Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Yes, you will likely need to try 'extreme' hiding tricks to get better speeds:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=361747#p361747(Note: My post immediately following that one explains what settings in uTorrent are similar to the Azureus ones.)
