LordDahnzeig Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 I'm not sure if these problems have been addressed before or if anyone has posted a thread about them or not, because I'm not going to flip through 500+ pages of threads just to see if.. well blah blah blah, here's the problems I've been having..Problem #1I'll start off by saying I'm not a new user to the Utorrent client.I started with an old version of the client and upgraded to the most recent.I'm not sure if it's a patching problem or what, but when I'm downloading torrents, a lot of the time, it displays error messages from the Utorrent system tray icon saying "File: (torrent file name) The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" and it immediately stops the information transfer.when I open up the Utorrent Client again to reconnect the transfer in the status bar it says the same thing "Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."it never used to do this.it shouldn't be a seeding problem because I always make sure the torrent I download is of good quality with plenty of seeds and as little leechers as possible.I myself seed, and keep the upload and download limits set at Unlimited at all times, and only download one torrent at a time, to increase dedicated bandwidth.for instance the torrent I'm downloading currently I cannot give you the specifics of because it is against the T.O.S to post such information, but I can give you these details.File Name: *******Size: 705 MbSeeds: 65Peers: 54when it does work, which in most cases is for a very short time, I do get decent speeds averaging around 45 kbs - 79 kbs depending on the seeds, peers and availability.I doubt it's a network problem, because as I said, it's worked perfectly in the past.If it matters, I'm using a Dell 1420 laptop with a dual core processor, and broadband "cable" internet.any information to address this problem would be really helpfull, I really enjoy Utorrent and it's easy interface.I don't want to have to switch to some other shady T-Client, because I know full well, that this one SHOULD work perfect for everything I want.Problem #2Another problem I have been having (which isn't really a BIG problem but it is kind of annoying) is when downloading a fresh torrent file, I have to open the torrent file manually, in order to get the list of what I want, and do not want from the files included in the torrent. It could be a browser problem, because I have recently upgraded from Firefox 2 to Google Chrome.I'm just assuming that this is the cause of the problem, but if not, I would like to know of any remedies.Problem #3I cannot seem to browse for torrents directly from the client anymore.when I Downloaded the client it came with preset search engines, like mininova, Pirate bay ect.now I have to directly go to their pages to browse for files.which isn't a big problem either, but I figure if anyone knows the answer to it, it would hurt to ask.If anyone could help with any of the aforementioned problems I would greatly appreciate it, be it advice from a user, or a Admin.
Switeck Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 The SEARCH function exists at this forum precisely so you don't HAVE to read through 500+ posts.Your problem is simple, software on your computer is blocking uTorrent from working.Remove offending software...probably Nero Scout, Roxio, or a file/media indexer....It could also remotely be an issue with Windows access permissions.
