Mack Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Hello, I am using the latest uTorrent for Mac (OS X Leopard, 10.5.6). The upload speed limit is not respected. I used uTorrent on Windows before, and then I had no problems. I'm using the same settings in uTorrent for Mac, as I had in Windows, where possible/configurable. I've also noticed other people with the same problem. Currently, I would say uTorrent is an unusable state for me, since the upload limit is not respected. It maxes out my ISP upload speed, and the download speed suffers, as well as slows down any concurrent web surfing. And if I set a download speed limit, uTorrent doesn't respect that either... This must be a bug.Thankful for any help.
iffyzr Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I'll second this.Tried various kind of torrent selections, but it will not respect the setting.Tried setting it through quick menu and preferences.Even messed about in the .plist to no avail.Update: this is on version 0.9.0.4 build 13906Update: Deleting the settings.dat and possibly the old settings.dat from Application Support/uTorrent solves this problem.
Mack Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 Thanks, deleting the mentioned setting files solved the problem. It's still worrying how this issue could happen, though, since I have not messed with uTorrent other than upgrading it with simple replacement of the application.
mgarces Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I had this problem also, and after doing what you sugested it now works fine! Downloads got faster also, because now I have bandwidth for the upload!Very nice, tanks!
dreday Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Okay, so i deleted the files and it worked right....... then it went back to not caring how much i want it to upload. The files returned in the directory after a while as well, and re-deleting them does not do much.I have used utorrent on win xp for years (which i have uploaded almost 16 TB's to my fav bit torrent site through btw) and now i have my `downloading and file sharing systems set up on a mac, but without upload limits???!!!! This is bad and makes me sniffle a lot. If anyone else can help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks!!(this is on a G5 macpro running 10.5.8)update......i finally through all the haze thought of using a bandwidth limiter like dummymac which is free and simple enough to use... It still hurts from it being harder to do on a mac then a pc....
gideond Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 I'm having about the same issue. I set up my first Hackintosh and just got uTorrent installed a few days ago. I have all setting the same as my Windows machine. However, even though the upload limit "appears" to be honored, my internet speed on all computers on the network is terrible. Stopping all torrents immediately fixes this. I've even halved the upload limit compared to my Windows machine and the bandwidth is still getting maxed somehow, even though it doesn't appear that way in the uTorrent window.
tractionmanuk Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 I am experiencing the same as above, i have been setup for months with no problem now the speed limiter has no effect at all. Have deleted the files as described and restarted but the same problem just re-appears Just to add to the above i have now downloaded the beta 1.1.0 and have the same problem. My upload limit is being completely ignored Mark
onimusha Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I followed this tip and it worked for me:http://www.utorrent.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=78162
