sade Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Hi,I'll use soon utorrent in order to deploy games for a LAN party on 8 computers. We'll use a 1Gbit switch , and each computer has a 1Gbit ethernet port. How can I optimize the speed ? Recently I did a test with one torrent (at the part there will 10 simultaneous torrent ) and 1 seeder and one leecher. The speed was from 2Mbits/s to 17mbits/s. I thinks it's possible to do better no ? What settings I have to change to optimize speed on a Gbit lan ? set chunks to 4096KB ? ? increase caching ? Moreoever , how , as a seeder, Can I avoid recheck of all the torrent content each time I'm restarting utorrent if I'm sure (with a md5 summer) that all the content is good ? Thanks in advance !
DreadWingKnight Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Where are you getting your 2mbit-17mbit speed?uTorrent displays almost all its speeds in *byte/sec.
sade Posted January 12, 2009 Author Report Posted January 12, 2009 You're right , it's '2 to 17 MBYTES/S 'Sorry for the mistake
DreadWingKnight Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 4mbyte piece size might be appropriate for your setup.if you're getting re-checks every time you restart uTorrent, you've got something on your system preventing uTorrent from saving its resume state.
