Darkhorse
As I frequently get lock-ups and crashes due to installing, removing programs and conflicts is it possible to stop µTorrent hash checking every time it dosen't shut down properly? If I'm downloading several 4GB torrents it can be annoying and time consuming. When I used to use BitComet it would only hash check after the download was complete. Inf
Hash checking just after completing the download is the wrong thing to do, cause if you had some damaged data bvecause of the crash, you will keep SENDING THAT DATA to others, wasting both their download and your upload bandwidth. Darkhorse
BitComet used a buffer, so if anything happened only that buffer was lost and there was no damage to the file(s).Despite loads of crashes I vary rarely had a corrupt file. DreadWingKnight
It doesn't matter. If the data is corrupt because of something in your setup corrupting it or something in the setup of the people you download corrupting it, if you don't hash check when the piece completes, you will also be sending bad data out.
