Xanatos
I went and downloaded something, and last time I did it, the same file I believe, it opened and stuff. I had to re download utorrent and when I did it again, it wouldn't finish. Also, every icon I have turned into a utorrent color and the green symbol. I tried to uninstall it so I can reinstall it, but everytime I try it won't open the menu to delete it.Alo, when I try to open something like norton, it says "Unable to load, Invalid torrent file" even though I bought it a long time ago..It's really annoying and hard to use things.Edit:Also, I cannot open Windows Movie Maker, really frustrating because I am making video right now. dtjohnst
I'm confused. You downloaded a program and it worked fine. Then you had to redownload uTorrent but you couldn't finish downloading the uTorrent file? Or you couldn't finish downloading that program again? Why did you have to redownload uTorrent? It almost sounds to me like you have a virus. That or something has either screwed up your file associations so everything is opened by uTorrent, or it's renamed all your icons to .torrent files. Xanatos
I re downloaded uTorrent because I had to restart the whole computer and I wanted it again. If it is, that would suck, because I cannot open Norton. For the installation, I installed it like I normally do.
dtjohnst
So uTorrent did download completely? I'm still not sure what the situation is.
Xanatos
Yes uTorrent downloaded completely. All I really need to do is uninstall it and re-install it, but it won't let me uninstall. The popup to uninstall does not show like the other programs.
dtjohnst
I've never seen a popup to uninstall...Try through Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs
Xanatos
Usually the pop-up says 'Are you sure you want to delete?' I say yeahBut if it needs the main account there is a pop-up that says 'continue?'But for this, there is only the first pop0up, and clicking yes does nothing. And yeah, I have been in the 'Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs' and nothing. moogly
Did you try to use another tool to remove uT completely and reinstall it properly ?
Xanatos
No, what tool should I use?
dtjohnst
I'm still not sure what you mean by "It wouldn't finish". It still sounds to me like some program or virus has changed associations or renamed files. If you just reinstalled windows, maybe you should do that again. It will certainly get you started with a clean slate if nothing else. Unless moogly has more ideas, I'm fresh out. And I'm still not clear on what you were doing when it broke. moogly
Yes your issue is not very clear. Is uT installed on your computer ? What is the link with Norton ?
Xanatos
Thanks, I am probably gonna just restart it, unless moogley has a way to delete it.
moogly
You can use Hijackthis to see if uT is still here: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=29748
Xanatos
Damn! I did download that, but when I said 'open' it used uT and it wouldn't open.
dtjohnst
lol I actually remember having that happen to me once. Everything tried to open something else. It wasn't uTorrent though. It was, however, a virus. One that took me about 6 hours to clean. After 4 I started wishing I had just reformatted.
moogly
Hum, can you post your Hijackthis log here, please.
dtjohnst
I don't think he was able to run HiJackthis. It tried to open it as if it were a .torrent file if I understood him correctly.

dtjohnst
At this point your Operating System is not working properly. I'm not sure how to resolve that. But if it's a fresh reinstall, it's probably easiest to reinstall again. Unless you're able to use System Restore or something to roll-back to before the problem began. moogly
Or there is a bad association between some .ext and uT. Try to search on Google to reset file associations.
