Limou Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Hello I was just seeking some information on the add peer feature but I didn't find any relevant topic on the subject... a search gave me something like 100 topics... didn't have the courage to read them all, so sorry if the topic has already been posted... I have read the http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=4060 topic... But wanted some confirmations and precisions... thanks in advance I just wanted to know how does it work ? and in which case can we use it ?Is it something like finding peers or seeds with another client and adding them in the µtorrent peer list ? In that case is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:XXXX the right syntax for an ip and its port ? (supposed to be like this in the info box just wanted a confirmation)Is the peer added supposed to appear immediately in the peer list ? If that is the case could there be any reason that it doesn't work for me ?If that is not the case why doesn't it appear at all even after hours (does this feature actually work ?)And is their anyway to add a peer list instead of adding peers one by one ?If that is the case what is the correct manipulation or syntaxe ?Excuse me in advance for hammering questions and for my bad EnglishThanks
Firon Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 it just adds them to the internal peer cache, it doesn't mean you'll actually connect to them
splintax Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I don't believe it is possible for you to add a peer list. Most people use the function when there are problems with the tracker (and they know a friend is in the swarm, for example) or to communicate with a LAN client. For example, adding 192.168.0.3:2884 or something, and grabbing data from a peer on LAN.
