ryan14 Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 utorrent should use ipsec which would eliminate the need of the utorrent client having it's own encryption and ipsec is more secure and it is widely used with ipv4 and mandatory for ipv6. the next version of utorrent should use ipsec and it should automatically configure itself and settings can be changed from within the utorrent software.
Ultima Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 You miss the point behind Protocol Encryption in the first place. It was not meant for security. Increasing the strength of the encryption algorithm would not hamper the ISPs' ability to throttle BitTorrent connection anymore (which is the real point behind encryption). ISP hardware can detect based on data flow patterns, which encryption won't hide.
ryan14 Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 there is actually a way that was developed to anonymize ipsec. u can read it here:http://iit-iti.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/publications/nrc-44943_e.htmlso would utorrent be able to have anonymous ipsec?
