Internet Stops While uTorrent is Running

I recently upgraded to Vista and had everything running perfectly with a halfopen of 4 until yesterday, when massive problem started. Whenever I run uTorrent my internet stops in it's tracks (even though uTorrent works fine). To fix it I just have to close uTorrent and wait about 10 minutes. I have Time Warner internet with Vista Ultimate 64, the current uTorrent version, and have the same results with and without my WRT54G. Could this be ISP interference?

I've already tried everything except the TCIPIP.sys patch on the "SLOW/INTERRUPTED INTERNET CONNECTION OR OFFLINE TRACKERS while uTorrent is running" post. I could do it, but that is a last resort as it's hard to do, and it doesn't seem like the problem would appear suddenly after using uTorrent for a while.

So I decided to use the patch, which was much easier than I expected it to be, and my internet is working fine. I'd like to speed it up a bit though, as my internet is still being slowed by uTorrent. My settings are:

net.max_halfopen 4

IP resolving, DHT, UPnP, and NAT-PMP enabled, as they don't seem to make a difference.

peer.resolve_country set to false

maximum global number of connections 250

So my question is, how much does the global number of connections and halfopen setting affect download speeds? Will I have lower download speeds if I set the halfopen to 2 and the max connections to 100? If I will, what do you guys think settings are a good compromise of download and internet speed?

Also, what does the XP patch set the number at? Mine is currently at 1000. My internet gets faster the more I move it up, but I don't know if there's a limit I shouldn't surpass.

Your speeds won't significantly decrease (and are actually more likely to increase) if you reduce your halfopen and max connections in uTorrent.

Additionally, the halfopen patch, although appears to make your internet go faster, causes other more long-term problems.

You still haven't provided your hijackthis log or process explorer process list.
