uWhat
Was reading about torrents and was wondering if uTorrent has encryption for privacy/security for users. Some other company, TorrentPrivacy, made it sound very important, unfortunately I can't say why here, but most of you probably know why. So does anyone know if uTorrent users are "privacy-safe"? Ultima
Encryption does exist for BitTorrent, but it isn't meant for privacy or security. It's meant to prevent deep packet inspection for easy identification (and consequently, throttling) of BitTorrent by ISPs.If you're referring to anonymity when you say "privacy," then no, BitTorrent doesn't provide for anonymity because of the very way in which it was designed. Peers need to know the other peers' IP:port combinations in order for a connection to be established, and for data to be transferred. Hiding behind a proxy or VPN may "help" in that regard, but it's often slower.
