biggreenbuds
Thanks for looking. Im wondering if there is anyrisk in having other people upload files from me? Basically me being the seed for someone else. Is there a way I can be "private" if you will, and turn off the ability for others to download files that I have downloaded? Kind of a dick move, yes, but I don't want to be caught seeding things, I've read that the penalty is more severe if caught downloading files if you are also seeding them.Any help would be cool. Ultima
No, no way to stop uploading. That's a part of the protocol, and won't/can't be changed.
biggreenbuds
Hey thanks! So what does deleting the torrent do then? if it deletes the file, then where do others upload it from?
Ultima
It'll stop downloading and uploading, but what I meant was that there would be no way to not upload while you download.
PastTense
The fair thing to do is to upload as much as you download--for example to continue seeding until the upload to download ratio hits 1.0There are millions of people using this to share files. The risk for the casual user is negligible. The people who need to worry about risks are those running sites, doing a huge amount of uploading (particularly uploading the first copies of unreleased movies and other media).
