velocity92c Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I'm curious on how I can remain safe while sharing files. I have a friend who recently got in trouble from his ISP because they got a subpoena. Apparently someone somewhere downloaded something from him that he was sharing after his download finished. I always leave my torrents on after completion and share them to 1.25/1 but now I'm kind of scared to do so. I don't want someone downloading something from me and me getting in legal trouble over it. I have Peer Guardian 2 but I've been reading online and apparently its' only very minimally helpful. Is there anything else I need to be doing to keep myself safe? I don't want to become a leech and stop sharing after downloads finished but I don't want to get in legal trouble either.
Firon Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 It's not really possible to do anything, save for paying for a secure VPN service to run your connection through.Stopping a torrent just after it finishes won't actually protect you, since they can monitor you at any time in the torrent.
