I have used torrents for five years without problems and now it is not working correctly. Originally, earlier tonight the error message that I got when opening up uTorrent was "connection closed by peer." I searched around and applied some of the online suggestions. I checked "allow incoming legacy connections." The current error messages that I receive are: "DHT: 0 nodes (log in") and "DHT: Waiting to log in." I have "Enable UPnP port mapping" and "Enable NAT-PMP port mapping," they are both checked. The other settings are default. I would give you my download/upload speed, but each time I check it, it is different. Please please don't let that disqualify me from being eligible for assistance. I am honestly sorry for that mistake. I read everything else very carefully. My information when using uTorrent 1.8.1 is as follows:I still get the "DHT: Waiting to log in" message. I found dht.dat and dht.dat.old and deleted both. When I opened the OpenOffice torrent, I got some of the same messages as before and some different messages than before. Specifically:For "[DHT]," under "Status" it says "waiting for announce..." instead of "not allowed" (it says "not allowed" for other torrents.) (different from before).For "[Local Peer Discovery]," under "Status" it says "working" instead of "not allowed" (it says "not allowed" for other torrents.) (different from before).For "[Peer Exchange]," under "Status" it says "working" instead of "not allowed" (it says "not allowed" for other torrents.) I wanted to let you know that I "Force"'d "incoming legacy connections" and that enabled Open Office to successfully download. With other torrents, however, I still get the same error…I installed Open Office, too. I also disabled Sophos for 24 hours which did not have any effect. capncap Posted February 14, 2009 Report Share Posted February 14, 2009 Looch,I had something very similar starting a few weeks ago, I'm wondering if it is related to your problem.I found that any tracker url ending in /announce (almost all trackers) quickly went to "connection closed by peer"If I edited the urls to end /announce/ or /announce/anythingthey all appeared to workTry it.If it works for your problem too, maybe that'll be enough of a hint for somebody figure out whats going on.If it doesn't affect your problem I'll start a new thread ...I know I'm confused.
