timmy1
What would happen if i made my uploads 1kb per second. My global upload. If i were to do that, would it make my downloads go faster, and not make my computer as slow?
Ultima
It'll slow your downloads down. Stick to the Speed Guide's suggestions. If you're having Internet slowdowns, check the first link in my signature for suggestions. If nothing there helps, provide the requested information. timmy1
why would it slow down my downloads?
gomp
because the way it works (I dont know full details) roughly is that the peers will send faster to people who send back to them at decent speeds. So if your max ul limit is 1kB/sec then you wont get much more back.Personally I find the optimal upload value to be about 50% of what my line can handle, others on here reccomend nearer 75-80%. Switeck
I upload roughly 90-95% of my line's max (I'm on ComCast off of Florida) and can still download >300 KB/sec. I've seen uTorrent download at 750 KB/sec for about 30 minutes straight, the max speed of my line.If everyone sets their upload speed low, WHO is going to download fast?uTorrent and other BitTorrent clients upload the most to those peers that GIVE them the most back.
