Hi all. Help would be much appreciated!

Recommended Posts

Hi Im new to the forums so hello :)

Anyway I downloaded utorrent and have tried downloading torrents but my speeds are ridiculous. Averaging 10kb/sec.

I have the dreaded ISP 'COX".. I hear they cut off bandwidth when downloading torrents etc..

Is there anyway to get around this? I have tried the guides on this forum and nothing works.

Is there anything I can do?

I did a dslreports.com speed test.. my download/upload is 6mb/848kb

I DO NOT have a router.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

2nd link in my signature...choose settings no higher than 800 kilobit/second upload, possibly lower to combat Cox throttling issues.

Disable UPnP, NAT-PMP (in Connection), DHT, LPD (in BitTorrent), and Resolve IPs (Right-Click in PEERS window of an active torrent for menu).

FORCED encryption on outgoing connections, and try both disabled and enabled incoming legacy (NO ecryption) connections.

Expect worse results during peak evening hours when more people are overloading Cox's pitiful cable networking. Cox probably has 200+ customers sharing a single 38 megabit/second download channel!

More people on Cox having problems:
