Massive CPU usage with uTorrent

I started having problems with this a LONG time ago, almost a year, but then switched to Linux and used another torrent client without problems. Still, recently I went back into Windows due to various reasons, having forgotten about this problem... Up to now. At least now I have a dual core CPU, so it doesn't hang my PC up.

Anyway, the problem is that, after some time, uTorrent starts using insane amounts of CPU. On a single core setup it was 99-100%, on the athlon X2 setup I use now it's 49-50% (99-100% of one core). The reason for that I do not know... It sometimes happens almost instantly, other times - like now - it ran without problems for the whole night and started again some timer after I left for the university.

Avast has web, mail and p2p guards turned off, but the problem was happening with Kaspersky too. I'm using the windows firewall, a 5400+ black edition Athlon x2, no overclock, 2 gb ddr2-800 ram from OCZ, dual channel. I'm also using hamachi, but this happened without it as well. I'm also using a DD-WRT Linksys WRT54GL and a WMP54G PCI adapter, ver. 4.1.

One more thing: In the speed tab, for disk statistics, it's showing 0.0 out of 0.0KB of Read buffer and 127 out of 32.0 Write buffer. Yes, 127 out of 32. ._.;

And another thing - it refuses to close. That is the process cannot be killed and it prevents the PC from closing normally.

EDIT:

The problem presists. Even if I set the buffer higher, at some point uTorrent starts eating up insane amounts of CPU and fills it up. And I cannot find a way to kill it then. This is a really annoying problem.
