All data disappeared from the program window. The only sign that is is still working is the status bar down and up speeds, all is gone from both upper and lower parts of the window.

I read the FAQ, followed the instruction for question 7.8 and rebooted, but nothing reappeared, the window is always empty.

I'll be very thankful for any suggestion on what to do to put it back ok.

Do you see columns in main window? If not, reset them (right click on header column > reset).

If torrent jobs have disappeared, you have to reload them in uT. See migration guide on homepage.

Thank you. I did reset the columns both on the upper and the lower parts of the window, but nothing came back, only the frames, the menu bar, the left side pane and the column headers. Very strange...

You can check the folder %appdata%\utorrent with your history and settings (*.dat). If they have a low size (~ kB), your previous settings have been erased (by blank uT) and surely there is no way to retrieve them.

So you have to use migration guide, especially the step about autoload procedure to load automatically a batch of torrents.

Well, after trying to manipulate the settings files and followed your suggestions without any result I couldn't go on as it was, I had to take a decision and I thought the easiest one was to remove uTorrent from the computer completely and reinstall it. I did that, I reloaded the torrents as from the beginning redirecting them to be saved on the directories where the files were already. It was not difficult after all and the download followed suite as if nothing had happened. it only took time. Now I will have to redo all the settings over again, a lot of more time, much more than until now.

The problem was that I did not know where the problem was, in which data file, so I could do nothing about. Thank you very much for the patience and kindness trying to help.

The best thing to do is to back up regularily folder %appdata%\utorrent. Because if uT is not properly shutdown, you can loose your history (eg. power failure, hazardous PC restart). In addition when you restart uT after this event, if a blank windows appears, you erase your previous resume.dat and your are screwed up.

Thank your advice, I'm going to do that, it is a good idea I didn't think about before because uT is such a simple program. I already save many things using task manager and other ways, it's just one more.
