flacseeds
I'm on a 3mbit/512 adsl, it seems whenever my dl is maxed out at 300k, my u/l (normaly capped at 40k), drops to 25-30. not sure if its scientific or anecdotal observation.is this normal? should I cap my dl bandwidth at 250-275k to preserve my ul bandwidth? Animorc
It drops to 30 or 40 when it's capped to 40? Or was this a typo?Well, if the upload is affected by the download, it might be good to limit the download as well. 280 kB/s should be enough.Edit: I see. Typo corrected
Kazuaki Shimazaki
Yes, something like this happens to me. I start noticing it at over 200KB/s, and personally think it has something to do with all the ACK signals uT is pumping back up the line to the torrent of DLed pieces.IMO, there is no reason to crimp the download just because your upload is crimped. If you are feeling really guilty about your share ratio, you can make up by more seeding later. In my personal experience, max outs are rare anyway (though uT gave me HOURS of it in one session, more than all the other times to date). If your UL is 35KB/s class, you should be entering into the "middle class" strata of BT and start to notice annoying days when your DL is lower than your UL. Nobody compensates you for time lost like this, so why not just let it go when you are in luck?

Firon
If you download at 200kb/s, you'll be using about 10-15 KB/s in upstream.
flacseeds
that sounds about right, I get about 300/30, 200/40, or 100/50 typically
Switeck
Set up µTorrent to have 1 upload speed normally and a faster alternate upload speed when just seeding.
