Guest Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Hi,How about some kind of legend to describe what the different colors mean. There's a lot of bars and graphics in uTorrent and it's not immediately obvious what the different colors in them mean. I've logic'd out a lot of them but it would still be a good idea to have a little keys for each one (I believe Azerus has one).Thanks.

Guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Right but the colors are customizable. I was thinking more of a bar at the bottom with the currently selected colors labeled.
1c3d0g Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 The colors are customizable? That is news to me... :|
chaosblade Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 All the colors are hardcoded in, and these are explained in the FAQ.
Ultima Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 ludde said no to color customizations, so I'm not sure how the colors are customizable O.o
1c3d0g Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Damn, why? Doesn't he want to make µTorrent easy for color-blind people?
Guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Hmmm... I remember seeing some color options in the Advanced ("don't modify") section of the options dialog, at least in a previous version; they don't seem to be in the latest one though.
Ultima Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 I don't recall any version ever allowing color customization O.oThe closest I recall is the option to enable/disable alternating background color for each list item, which was moved out and into the General Options page.(Err... very odd, but alternating background color doesn't appear to be working for me right now on 1.4.1 build 406...)
1c3d0g Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Ultima: it works fine here. Maybe your PC got a bit tired displaying alternating rows?
Guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 I don't recall any version ever allowing color customization O.oThe closest I recall is the option to enable/disable alternating background color for each list item, which was moved out and into the General Options page.(Err... very odd, but alternating background color doesn't appear to be working for me right now on 1.4.1 build 406...)Yeah, I think that's the one. I must have glanced at a some of the values, saw the words gui and color, and filed that in the back of my mind as customizable.Still, Azureus has the little color bar right there at a glance, it would be nice if uTorrent did as well (but for every place where there is a bar). Although, like I said I figured them out anyway so it's not absolutely required; I just thought others who are familiar with it could use it.*UPDATE*A nice alternative to putting a key inside µTorrent would be to actually display the key visually in the FAQ, instead of just using the words "blue", "red", etc. Also, there have been changes that aren't reflected in the FAQ yet. In 1.7ß, the Pieces bars and Files bars now display red where they didn't before. It would be good to consolidate the whole color-code thing into one legend in the FAQ instead of having several separate sections (colors in this bar, colors in that bar), since µTorrent has a consistent theme.
Bazzilic Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 such a feature is still demanded. there's speed graph, for example, and it's really hard to work out what do red, dark red and blue colors mean. Legend would be very useful.
jewelisheaven Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 You don't demand anything. The colouring is in the manual.. Sure it would be useful, but there's honestly more important work to do.
Guest Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Hey, what do you know. The manual has come a long way since the last time I looked at it. So has the online FAQ.It looks really professional (clean) and thorough now. Of course a little colored div is still easier and faster to find than color-words.
OrAnGeWorX Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 i guess what they're trying to say is no means no.but it's a good idea for 90+% of the n00bs out there who don't read the FAQ and come straight to the forums... no 1 bothers to read anymore
Bazzilic Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Placing the legend to the chart is, I'd say, charts-etiquette. Charts without legends are mauvais ton.
OrAnGeWorX Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 hehehe ur so right.... the amount of crap we got, back during schools yrs, for not placing a legend on graphs, maps etc...
jewelisheaven Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Noone may bother to read AT FIRST, but if they ask for help... they will read. How's that fish parable go...
Bazzilic Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 I can't understand what the problem is. Adding legend to the chart is no longer than 15 minutes. It's easier to add than to argue about it.
Guest Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Key or no, putting a little color box in the manual/faq is quicker and easier (and simplifies localization). Take a look at the eMule manual.
Bazzilic Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 btw, it'd be great if anybody of developers would answer something.
