exstac
If you have choosen to pre-allocate disk space all files are created in the target folder regardless of which files you choose to download.I have tried to start torrents in stopped mode but it still creates all files. As my disk space is fairly limited this is quite annoying. Ultima
Don't set the option then. utorrent still pre-allocates each individual file that it downloads. That option is only to pre-allocate ALL files in a multi-file torrents.
exstac
(Then perhaps this thread should have been posted in Feature Requests.)The text should say pre-allocate for all files. Thanks!
PunkAssOtch
I think there is also a space check that sees if it can fit the entire torrent before starting, even when it's not preallocated and/or you're downloading only part of it. Not sure if that was fixed yet or not.Plus, it preallocated partial files (for files that shared blocks with the requested file) and that was a bit strange, even when it was turned off. Ultima
I think it'd be wise to check though, since (as vurlix mentioned before) a piece might belong to multiple files, and if utorrent downloads even just a piece of a file, that entire file is preallocated. If (by chance) the files you choose to download all share pieces with the files you aren't downloading, utorrent will try to allocate all the disk space. But if it finds that there is no space left, what then?
lowestofthelow
Q. How do I choose which files NOT to download inside a torrent? In the torrent's "Files" tab, select the undesirable files and click "Do not download" from the right-click context menu. I tried to use this feature, but if fails in all versions. Even if I choose 'do not download' for some file, eventually I find this file downloaded. And, in addition, uTorrent don't differ 'high', 'normal' and 'low' priority - all files are downloading like there's no priority rule ;( How can we fix this bug? Simple clients like BitTorrent or BitTornado are the best in this meaning (if you choose not to download the file, it won't download).

The priority works fine, I used it the other day to get the sample of a movie first.
