rider555 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I tested to see if port is open, yes it is.But,the little yellow triangle is present.Huh?According to the speed test,my upload max is 312.So,for my connection type,I selected xx/256k.Currently,it is showing that my down speed is around 60 kB/s.It is not showing up speed.Should I just figure the hell with it and give up trying to increase the down speed?I have already checked the firewalls.if I turn off Norton firewall, than I can not connect to internet. If I turn off Windows, firewall, than it makes no difference to the speed.Yes,both firewalls are allowing Utorrent.AT&T is my ISP,if that makes any difference...
moogly Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Do you have an internal firewall in your router (maybe check the online tutorial if you don't know)?
Switeck Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 "if I turn off Norton firewall"...By completely uninstalling?Because Norton remains hooked and running otherwise.Use Windows Firewall in the meantime if you don't have a router.Even with a router, you may still want to use Windows Firewall.
rider555 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 I didn't uninstall Norton. Both firewalls are on and are not blocking Utorrent. No firewall in router.Still having same problem. Why does it say that port is open, though there is no incoming connections?
Switeck Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 My guess is because Norton is still blocking uTorrent, despite saying otherwise.
rider555 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Norton firewall is off,so I can't do anything about that..............Connection is working ok now,but down speed is all the way down to 1.8 kB/s..I am about ready to say the hell with it and just use rapidshare.
schnurlos Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Using 2 software firewalls is not good ..., and Norton is known for making problems - only uninstall can help you.
rider555 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 My subscription with Norton ended months a go,so..don't really need it I suppose as I am using Windows Firewall and have AVG(or whatever it is called). Are there any risks in uninstalling Norton?
Firon Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Nope. It will only solve your problems. Use the Norton Removal Tool. http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
rider555 Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 I am not sure what kind of Norton Product I have..I bought this PC in summer of 2007 so it's whatever came with it.Okay just uninstalled Norton and rebooted.Utorrent download speed remains extremely slow(around 20kB/s).
