Kazuaki Shimazaki
Anything else? Sometimes, ffdshow has an annoying tendency to crash programs - I've had it happen to me.
Firon
ffdshow's never crashed for me. of course, if you're using old versions, that may happen.http://x264.nl/
Ultima
Yeah it used to crash Explorer for previews and stuff, but that was fixed a long time ago, I believe (I recall reading it in a changelog somewhere). As for the "anything else" part... I guess you/helnite would need a player that supports DirectShow filters and codecs.
Firon
oh, Explorer's media indexer is slow is crashy shit. Start -> Run -> regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
Ultima
Yep, I agree. For me, though, I never use thumbnail view, and I have the tasklist thing disabled... not sure if that explains why I never experienced the crashing =P
Firon
It still indexes the media even when not using thumbnail view, which is why opening folders with lots of media files slows down. :/
