roundabout
I recently upgraded my comcast connection to a 20mbps speed, hoping to improve my downloads. However, immediately after resetting my modem and router, utorrent (and all other torrent software) failed to connect properly, and downloads now average about 20kbps. Of the 20 torrents I have tried, 18 of them stick to this average, whereas 2 of them will max out at over 1mbps, which I would expect for all torrents. The yellow triangle has popped up to say that I have no incoming connections, yet I have changed no settings since the switch, and everything was working before then. Ports are forwarded correctly according to Portforward, and have been given permission in my firewall. I am using a Netgear WPN824v3 router, and a Motorola SB5101 modem, both of which are approved by my ISP.The only odd thing that I can see is that all my tracerts time out on the second step, after my computer's local ip. Any ideas?
Ultima
Comcast is known to throttle connections...
dereksbelanger
If ultima is right about Comcast - would it help to enable encryption?
fatspirit
Try. Uncheck "Allow incoming lecacy connection". You'll have less peers, but it might (just) work this way.
Ultima
Encryption won't get around Comcast's SandVine.
roundabout
I used Glasnost to test throttling, and it came back as clean, and the list doesn't show Comcast... Is there no way I can get around this, besides stopping use of torrents and downloading everything through my browser?
Switeck
Glasnost testing may not "trip" the method ComCast uses.I have ComCast and only have minor speed issues -- and those are seeding/uploading related.
Ultima
I wouldn't be surprised if ISPs are giving sites like Glasnost a free non-throttling pass on a whitelist basis, just so their throttling isn't as readily exposed.
