moogly
Which uT build (see Help > About)?
Ultima
Seems to be a utorrent.com issue. Try using the toolbar at the top of this site, and you'll see the exact same problem.
jim257
uT build 14458.
moogly
Yes, you're right Ultima. It's an issue relative to uT website. The solution is to set gui.bypass_search_redirect to true in Preferences > Advanced.
Ultima
Appears to have been fixed. I'm not sure if it was a bug on Google's end, or on utorrent.com...
joy84
I am still having this problem like Jim257 - "Forbidden...Your client does not have permission...". Is anyone else still having this problem too? Any suggestions? Searches worked fine as of yesterday. Thanks so much!
moogly
Did you read my previous post?
joy84
Oops! Thank you! However, now I am getting solely Google search results rather than .torrent specific results when I do a search in my uT. Did I not do it correctly? Thanks again for your help. VERY much appreciated! moogly
The search will be not redirected to uTorrent.com, directly to Google.com (or the tracker website you set in Advanced options)
joy84
I see what you are saying. Was everyone having this 'Forbidden' search glitch? Do you know if it is going to be fixed & go back to the way it was? Even when I do a search directly on the uTorrent.com site I get that 'Forbidden' message. Definately not as user friendly to do quick .torrent searches now.
moogly
You can fix it locally if you bypass the redirection to uTorrent.com as I said previously. But the problem with Utorrent.com or GSE will be surely fixed.
joy84
Last question...Once it is fixed will I need to change 'gui.bypass_search_redirect to true in Preferences > Advanced' back to false?
moogly
As you want, it's not necessary. uT search bar works without that.Search redirections to uTorrent.com allow BitTorrent company to make money when users make searches from their client. But if you don't like too see an advertising frame on top like me when you're redirected (especially if you have browser addon like ABP, you got a useless blank frame), you can keep gui.bypass_search_redirect to true. katreebmiii
I just set the perference true. However when I go back to the website and do a search it still doesn't work
moogly
This variable works only if you use the search bar implemented into uT client, not the website.
chucktownsc
"Once it is fixed will I need to change 'gui.bypass_search_redirect to true in Preferences > Advanced' back to false"Can you tell what this means in computer for dummies terms? I just downloaded uTorrent 1.8.2 and have not been able to download anything, so don't know anything about itSame prob with the forbidden message. Thanks! Ultima
In µTorrent, go to the Preferences dialog, and check the Advanced section. You'll find the relevant option there.
