moogly
Hi, I have a file with 266,951 IPs filteredPut your computer into a strongbox, that will be better. Such a file is completely useless and inefficient. The main role of ipfilter is only to block potential seed/peer poisoners (or bitvomit clients on a case by case basis), not to ban the entire web.In addition ipfilter doesn't provide security or anonymity. stranded
I just want to ban certain countries because I don't want to upload content to them. And I have IP ranges for few countries and it's a lot..
moogly
Why ban countries? You have extra charge if you exceed a quota to international peers?
stranded
So is there a limit for the IPFilter or not?
Switeck
Probably in excess of 300,000 entries...but if you consolidate the ip ranges, doubtful you'd NEED to have that many.If you know more about internet ip ranges, you could find out what regions each ip range maps to...like ARIN, RIPE, APNIC. moogly
In addition open a .dat file with 300k entries can cause some pbm. Do it with Notepad and the text editor will surely not respond.
hermanm
> but it just won't block anything with the file that big.It is possible you have "bad" data in the ipfilter.dat file and µTorrent is exiting early from the IPfilter.dat file. I have 222k entries in my ipfilter.dat and it works fine. The file itself it only 6,319 KB. I know some IP lists pad with 0 on front. If you remove the padding, the ipfilter.dat file will obviously be smaller.Switeck: Besides number of entries, is there an upper file size limit for ipfilter.dat? Switeck
No clue, I quit using extremely huge ipfilter.dat files...with the largest thing I ever used having maybe 200k entries.
