I ban my own ports !?!

I am on an XP sp3 machine, utorrent 1.8.2 and Zone Alarm firewall. Let's say I have specified port 53000 in uTorrent for my traffic. After I have been downloading or seeding for a very short while, the application bans/blocks the port. I have to go in every half hour or so and choose to "reset bans".

I tried a different firewall (I think I did the Nod suite) but it did not help. I am not being banned by other users for sending bad data, it is my set up banning me.

Why?

Thanks for the help.

DreadWingKnight - Why do you think you have to do this? - traffic drops to zero. After I "un-ban" it resumes.

Switeck - I already use recommended settings. Additionally, my upstream is never more than 75% and I limit my active torrents to 8 total.

Instead of spending dozens of hours wading through forum posts, I was rather hoping I could post the issue here and get a reply from someone who knew the answer.
