guandaar
It starts off as a yellow triangle and changes to a red circle and says "not connectable".When I click the icon and run the web test it says "error" and "port does not appear to be open."I have about 20 peers I am uploading to at over 200kB/sI have about the same download speeds with a 10Mb fiber connectionI have a Linksys router with Tomato firmware and UPnP enabledThe port forwarding page for the router shows TCP and UDP being forwarded to uTorrent properlyI have ZoneAlarm and uTorrent is allowed for access and server functions. My question: Is the icon wrong?Am I missing out on greater speeds because it says I am not connecting? dtjohnst
The icon is probably not wrong, and you likely are missing out on greater speeds. The problem may be your ISP, or it may be ZoneAlarm.
Nnyan
Since I moved to the beta I've found that the icon pretty much stays at the "not connectable" stage. All my other P2P apps have no such issues (all connections are green/good). I've done a few tests and despite this icon's indication I can replicate my fastest downloads 600-700kB/s sustained. guandaar
I shut down ZoneAlarm and there was no difference.I checked the ZA logs and it showed no blockings of that port.I decided to try a different client and it also said there was no incoming connections (different port)I tried a very popular torrent and I got download speeds of 1000kB/s and uploads of 500kB/sWhere are all these uploads coming from if they can't connect to my port?I suppose the ISP's fiber modem could have its own firewall. DreadWingKnight
I shut down ZoneAlarm and there was no difference.Did you UNINSTALL zonealarm? That's the only real way to shut it down.
guandaar
I went ahead and uninstalled ZoneAlarm and rebooted but still not connectable. So are the only incoming connections on ports I have already established with peers I am downloading from? Switeck
No, you won't be getting ANY incoming connections. You may be able to connect TO unfirewalled peers/seeds, but nothing can ever connect to you.(It's like a telephone that never rings.) guandaar
Well as I said in the first post:I have about 20 peers I am uploading to at over 200kB/seven though the icon was red. That's why I am asking if it can be wrong.Today with a different torrent I noticed the icon was green. I clicked on it and did the utorrent web port check. It said failed and the icon went from green to yellow.P.S. I just started a different torrent and the icon turned green again, then it turned yellow again even though it shows peers I am uploading to. Now I am thoroughly confused! Switeck
Overloaded conditions can trigger intermittent firewall-like results (yellow and red lights in uTorrent.)
