seasidepeter
Hi - running XP Pro with a Thomson TG585V7 router, cable connected. I installed bittorrent and followed instructions at portforward.com to open the selected port. My router now shows bittorrent as allowed, and with the correct port selected. But - there's always a but - bittorrent doesn't work. Following the speedguide port checker link, I get the error message "port xxxx doesn't appear to be open".I run AVG Firewall (8.5), and have 'allowed' bittorrent there, but still nothing.Am I missing something? Any suggestions please?TIA...
breakherman
I am having the same problems with avg 8.5's firewall. I know the router port is working because before I installed avg everything worked fine.I have attempted to mod the port and app settings in avg but as of yet to no avail. but what is weird is that even if I shut off the firewall it still doesn't play .. Any help would be appreciated.
seasidepeter
Well, I solved mine - though I'm not sure why. In AVG Firewall Settings I enabled both MS File Sharing and lsass.exe (the dhcp authoriser), then re-started the router and the PC. Bingo! Relevant port now open and all working fine... hope this helps.
