Questions about ipfilter.dat?

Well I'm not really new to uTorrent, but I have a few questions about peer blocking.

1. So you make the ipfilter.dat file by just typing ip addresses on a single line on Notepad? Then adding a new one on the next line?

2. Does it block out other governments or just poison peers?

3. Which ip address ranges should I block?

4. And peer guardian is more inferior to this type of peer blocking?

1. Read FAQ: http://www.utorrent.com/faq/misc#faq11

2. All the IPs you want.

3. It's your choice: peer/seed poisoners, bitvomit peers, etc. You can find various lists on the Web (use Google) but huge ones are pretty useless. Read this topic to begin a possible list about IP to block: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=46221

4. About PG2: uT does the same thing with ipfilter.dat so it's useless.

Anyway you can read this important thread about the subject (all pages): http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=55706&p=1

Create a .txt file with Notepad and add the IP you want to block.

One per line or a range (like xxxxxx - yyyyyy).

Then go to the next line etc...

Ex:

219.138.000.000 - 219.138.019.255 , 000 , CHINANET-HB-JZ5

220.114.080.000 - 220.114.111.255 , 000 , GWBN-NANJING

221.137.000.000 - 221.137.255.255 , 000 , COLNET

24.108.83.254

24.63.178.137

58.146.153.5

58.146.166.83

Yes.

You can block ranges of IP:

3.0.0.0-3.255.255.255

4.0.25.146-4.0.25.148

4.0.26.14-4.0.29.24

Or just single IP if you want:

3.0.0.0

> 2 & 3

Depends on the list you use.

> 4

"Inferior" is a subjective term, so you'd have to explain what your idea of "superior" and "inferior" is.
