Yehhanyos2008
Hi,I had 2 questions regarding trackers, now after using the search function in this forum, i got the answer to my first question which was by the way "Will adding more trackers increase the number of peers?" And the answer is NO in 99% of the cases. Now come to the second question. The way the trackers being placed. I read DWK's page about Multitracker Specification and it helped me a lot to understand the differences between "Primary with backups", "Load Balancing" etc. but i still can't find the answer to a question which is "Trackers share peer data" Do you mean public trackers? if no, How do i know if they share peer data? I will give you random examples from some torrents in my client. How do i know whether or not these trackers share peer data? Example #1http://inferno.demonoid.com:3398/announcehttp://tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announceudp://tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announceExample #2http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announcehttp://tracker.torrenty.org:6969/announcehttp://tpb.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announcehttp://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announcehttp://tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://vip.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announcehttp://www.torrent-downloads.to:5869/announceAnother question, What if i find that the trackers actually SHARE PEER DATA. What should i do? Should i place them in ONE tier?Example #3http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announcehttp://tracker.torrentfr.org:56666/announcehttp://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announcehttp://www.torrentsnipe.info:2701/announce
DreadWingKnight
Example 1 is laid out wrong because they aren't the same tracker and they don't share peer data.Example 2 is partly right because some of the trackers are simply aliases of each other, but again, is still laid out wrong.Example 3 is actually right because those trackers don't share peer data.Do you mean public trackers? if no, How do i know if they share peer data? The type of tracker is irrelevant. Either kind of tracker is capable of sharing peer data across multiple tracker addresses.
Yehhanyos2008
Ok, thanks for the reply So, The trackers that have "tracker.thepiratebay.org" should be in the one tier, And http://tpb.tracker.prq.to/announce.php , http://tv.tracker.prq.to/announce.php should be in another tier and so on.If they have different domain name, i will separate them. moogly
Interesting thread, I didn't remember that spec.Anyway how can you know if trackers share peer data?I tested with a huge list (some trackers are likely redundant) and I grouped trackers with same domain name together. But now I see tiers with the same number of peers/seeds. So is it sufficient to decide they share peer data?My tracker list grouped by domain name:http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://eztv.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://vip.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://tv.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://a.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://denis.stalker.h3q.com:80/announcehttp://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announcehttp://trackeri.rarbg.com:80/announcehttp://trackeri2.rarbg.com:80/announcehttp://trackeri4.rarbg.com:80/announcehttp://77.247.176.132/announcehttp://77.247.176.135/announcehttp://77.247.176.151/announcehttp://77.247.176.154:80/announcehttp://tracker.mightynova.com:80/announcehttp://tracker.mightynova.com:4315/announcehttp://torrent-download.to:5869/announcehttp://tpb.tracker.prq.to:80/announcehttp://bttrack.9you.com:8080/announcehttp://tracker.blazing.de:6969/announcehttp://91.191.138.8:80/announcehttp://tracker.taquilladivx.com/announcehttp://bt.yyets.net:6969/announcehttp://bttracker.game.vtc.vn:6969/announcehttp://1.tk.btcomic.net:80/announcehttp://tr.ydy.com:87/announcehttp://kita.wjl.cn:8080/announceNow when I test with a torrent, the Trackers tab displays:1/ So can I say http://1.tk.btcomic.net:80/announcehttp://91.191.138.8:80/announcehttp://denis.stalker.h3q.com:80/announcehttp://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announceetc...share the same peer data (i.e. 1730/3300)?2/ If yes, is it better to group them together into the same tier? Ultima
You can't know for sure unless the tracker administrator(s) tell you directly. You can sorta infer/assume, though, if the numbers correlate pretty directly (as you've noticed).
moogly
Ok so I can continue to group tracker tiers together (following peer number) like denis.stalker.h3q.com & thepiratebay.org e.g.
Ultima
Remember that those numbers are gathered from tracker scrapes, and tracker scrapes don't necessarily reflect the tracker's list of peers. For example, it could well be that denis.stalker.h3q.com is using TPB's scrapes, but is storing its own list of peers. Of course, I don't know, but the point is (as I mentioned earlier) that you can't know for sure
