U Torrent 0.9.1.2 vs Transmission 1.6

Ok i was using Transmission till the U Torrent for mac beta came out which at the time had much faster downloads. I just recently got an update for Transmission (1.6) and i thought i would do a few back to back tests to see if Transmission had gotten any faster. To my surprise after 6 back to back tests the new Transmission was constantly getting 3mb/s while the most U Torrent could get was 1.8mb/s. I am now thinking about switching back to Transmission, has anyone else done any tests lately?

There are far too many variables that affect speed of a torrent, the client being used is the least important of those. Are your ports forwarded on both? Firewall? etc.

Transmission 1.6 may be better than Mac uTorrent ALPHA at the moment...but stick around for a little while and that will certainly change.

Transmission probably still sucks for uploading in large swarms...last I heard (v1.51) it still had no upload slot limits!

I would go with uTorrent being better, even at this stage of its development.

Transmission is OK, but the GUI is old style and as above, large swarm torrenting with it sucks big time

Interesting. What's wrong with it? Have you reported any issues on the transmission forums?

Transmission seems to devour memory.

Lack of proper upload slot control is a WELL-KNOWN problem to the developers.

Yeah, I checked their forums and there is a 20 page thread on it.

They have just updated to 1.7 and still the problems remain
