I took the same steps as before but when I plugged my computer directly into the modem, I remembered to add a port forward exception unlike before. When I tried the port checker the status was open but when I reconnected the Linksys to the M1000 and the computer to the Linksys, it was closed. I've been through the portforward guide for the Linksys router upwards of 10 times now, what am I missing?

On the Modem? Is it a port exception for an ip or range of ips, or just a bare port?
Utor03
The port exception is on the modem. It is for the ip assigned to my computer when I connect allowing traffic through the port I specified, 54828.
Switeck
Why you add the router back in, you have to make a port exception to the router from the modem. And that probably has to use the router's WAN-side ip...whatever that may be.
Utor03
Alright, I figured it out thanks to that last bit of advice. Thanks for the help Switeck.
Switeck
Was the router's ip you needed to use a 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or something else?
