ruggie
i started my download this afternoon with a shockingly low speed of 7kbps and after hours of trying to fix the problem.. it just got worse.. the speed dwindled down to 1kbps and less! I made sure that my firewall was allowing incoming connections and i also tried establishing a static IP. After somewhat a brief moment of hope that everything had already went well.. because my speed skyrocketted up to 150 or 200 kbps.. everything went back to where it was.. when the speed had sucked a lot.. so it went around 1.0 kbps and below. Within periods of time after I made my IP static, the speed would fluctuate this much and at a fast rate.. from 1.0 kbps to 100+kbps then dwindle dwindle dwindle.. I have also checked the port and it is already open.. what could be the problem?? Could some kind of virus/adware/spyware affect my utorrent speed??Help needed T__T
jewelisheaven
Have you tried resetting things up? http://utorrent.com/documentation/connection-setupBeing sure your settings in uT match your connection are a big part. After that, it's up to the peers you're connecting to. If you can get consistent speeds from http://slackware.com/torrents/ then you can only try so many things to combat slowness http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992#p258231Checking whether changing Ctrl-P > BitTorrent encryption settings to Enabled/Forced and dis-allow legacy connections works for some ISP interference. ruggie
im using vista and the tweaking site told me that tweaking isnt really advisable for vista users.. by the way, i have tested my port again if it was open and it seems that it isn't.. i'm not sure what happened but last night, it was open.. it says port 13196 on (an ip address that isnt mine) isnt open.. does that mean my IP isnt static after all? i went through the process of making it static.. so probably that one failed.
