Cannot recover from moving download folder

I have ran out of space on the download folder disk. So, I moved the entire folder tree (including folder where .torrents and actual download files are stored) do another disk. Currently all my distributions show the same error: "Error: Can't open .torrent file:" followed by the old location of the .torrent file. I had changed the folder options in the preferences to point to the new location. I have tried stopping, and setting new download location. I tried setting automatically loading .torrents from the new location. Nothing helps.

I am somewhat new to the whole world of torrents and not very well familiar with terminology and the technology itself.

So, if somebody could help me resolving this situation your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You have moved the folder where are saved .torrents, that's why uT shows this error.

If it's possible, move back only this folder (with .torrents).

A good advice is to maintain this folder on your main drive (by default in %appdata%\utorrent) and move only the data.

Thanks moogly for your suggestion.

Unfortunately, it is hard to do now. The "old disk" was a partition of a physical disk, which I had merged with another partition. I no longer have a logical or physical drive with the "old disk" letter.

I am looking for a way to redirect old distributions to the new location of the .torrents folder. These locations are stored somewhere, right? Shouldn't there be a way to change these references?

Use Ultima's BFE linked in my sig. You will need 1) to know the paths to look for in the old partition for both data and torrents (if appropriate) 2) create another backup of resume.dat just in case 3) read some of the info about BFE and what it can do for you 4) Use Find/Replace or Find by Value to change the references.

Moogly is correct however, to keep from having unnecessary rechecking, it's a good idea to not only store active data but also torrents in a local drive which is unlikely to be inaccessible upon starting uT.
