GradeAbra
Do i need to stop all my download for the speed test to be accurate? I got around 256kb/s when tested with my download on. I got 372kb/s when tested without the download on. So which one should i use? Thanks
moogly
Of course. Uploading in uT will eat your 'real' bandwidth and the test will be useless. As I said previously, when you are measuring your DL/UL speeds you have to stop p2p, websurfing and applications with intensive use of your connection. GradeAbra
So which one on the chart should i follow?
moogly
Try 256k and if your websurfing is out decrease to 192k.
GradeAbra
Why can't i use:384 kbit/sec ║ 35│ 4║ 40│ 90║ 3│ 2Do you mean that i must keep changing my setting when i surf or don't surt net??
moogly
Make tries with various settings and check if websurfing is fine or not. I don't know precisely your average UL speed you measured so it's hard to give a reference to you.
GradeAbra
I tested 5x, added them and divide by 5. 372kb/s is the mean number.
moogly
You have to keep bandwidth for websurfing, so a classic settings in uT is 80% of the max UL speed of your internet connection. So try the line 320 but I think the best one is 256. You can adjust if you want a full bandwidth sometimes in uT.
GradeAbra
So i can't try the one above my number? Like 384?
moogly
Yes you can try but you allow uT to use the full bandwidth if it needs it.
GradeAbra
This is getting more and more troublesome. I guess i am going to stick with 256kb/s and not going to touch it. Do you think this is ok?
moogly
Yes surely the best level to set uT in your case.

DreadWingKnight
Put the half-open connections back down. There's absolutely no reason to increase it.And no, your settings are not right for xx/192Limit: 17Global max: 50Per-Torrent max: 30Upload slots: 3In queueing set 1 download and 2 active. weknowhowtolive
So, I've never really messed around with the settings, but I tried this guide and I must have done something wrong because it killed my download speed.I have about 30,000 kb/s download and 5,000 kb/s upload according to speedtest.comWhat should my settings be?
DreadWingKnight
Try to specify *bit/sec and *byte/sec instead of the various *b/s and *bps notations.
weknowhowtolive
I dont know which it is. If I use speakeasy it tells me its about 2500 kBps. speedtest.com just says "29618 kb/s - 5200 kb/s"
DreadWingKnight
Run the test from speedtest.net and take the "Share your result" link and post it.

weknowhowtolive
k so I'm downloading 1 file with 2800 peers, 85 connected and one with 16,800 peers and 30 connected. Both are going at or under 200 kBps. I know in the past I've downloaded much faster with other torrent clients, is it just these specific files and seeders? moogly
Bittorrent doesn't guarantee a speed rate. It depends on your uT settings, your connection and the swarm quality.Test with OO torrents, well seeded: http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/Choose torrent Win/OO3.0.1/English and report the DL speed. You should reach your max set in uT.
