rufus001 Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 I've just noticed that utorrent is uploading above the limit I have set. I've set the limit at 22KB and the combined torrents will not go above this as shown in utorrent itself. But my actual Network Meter Gadget will show 30K+, which is my isp limit, and my browsing will slow to a crawl or stop. As soon as I pause the torrents the upload shown in my Gadget goes to zero, or near enough, and my browsing will start working, so its clearly something to do with utorrent. Have I caused this by stuffing around with my settings because its only started happening recently. The excess amount of upload is roughly 10 to 15KB. I'm using utorrent 1.8.2. Maybe I should just remove it and re-install it?Any help would be appreciated because my paltry 30KB isp upload limit is rendering utorrent unusable when browsing and it wasn't happening before even when running multiple torrents downloading at 500KB plus.

rufus001 Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 So your reply is ... "I don't know the answer."? Cool.
moogly Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 The answer is you didn't read the link, especially the post about "SLOW/INTERRUPTED INTERNET CONNECTION OR OFFLINE TRACKERS".
rufus001 Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 I read the link and it gave me a whole list of things to try that may or may not work. In other words he doesn't know the answer and can't tell me why utorrent is uploading 10 to 15KB more than it reports. I replied that it was "cool". I don't expect people on forums to be able to know the answer to every single question as it may be a very complicated issue.
DreadWingKnight Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 It would appear that you didn't actually read the link because it requests information that you are not providing.
rufus001 Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 Not exactly. It suggests a whole lot of things for me to try. It then informs me of details you will need to attempt to help me further. At know point did you say, "I don't know the answer so please provide details as per this link." Thats what I was attempting to clarify in my response to you. There is no actual easy straight forward answer that I have missed.
moogly Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 Well, instead of blablating, post the max UL of your internet connection, your uT bandwidth settings (Preferences > Bandwidth), and other values (max_halfopen).
rufus001 Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 I've stated both my isp upload limit and utorrent upload limit already. 20KB for utorrent and 30KB for isp. I've had the same computer, firewall, router etc for ages and haven't had any probs at all with the basic utorrent settings. All I've ever done is change the upload limit to 20KB. But recently I did change a couple of the settings "max connectiions" but I have changed them back. I've even uninstalled utorrent, and settings, and reinstalled it with only one setting change. Max upload to 20KB. Why is utorrent uploading 10 to 15KB more than my setting? Can I alter other settings so that utorrent overules my 20KB setting?Edit: It's cool. I've found the solution on an old thread.
