augustwest
Hi,I've been downloading something for awhile now and suddenly get the message Error: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Help, please!!!
Ares
Might be your antivirus accessing the file. It could even be you having the folder open in Explorer. Just means that another program is accessing the data.EDIT: Try searching next time:http://forum.utorrent.com/search.php?search_id=1264138901EDIT2: Heh, forgot the FAQ, thanks Firon. =)-Ares

PyRoFReaC
If you still can't find the problem, try Process Explorer from SysInternals. Do a search for a handle on part of the file name you are downloading, and it will show you which programs are accessing it. I wouldn't just go and kill the processes, but for me, it was just that I had a Windows Explorer window open, even though it wasn't looking at the specific folder, or even drive, but had been earlier. Once I closed it, the problem seems to have gone away.Process Explorer: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.htmlThe install file is linked at the bottom of the page. Firon
System Restore was causing that? That's bizarre...
Ares
Hmm well System Restore does seem to back up all EXE's doesn't it? If the user was downloading a program that wasn't zipped, I could see this happening maybe. With some googling, I found that what System Restore monitors is listed in C:\windows\system32\restore\filelist.xml - can anyone confirm this? (I run Windows Server 2003 and it doesn't have system restore, thankfully )-Ares
