Bliam
This is a bit of an odd problem, I haven't been able to find anyone else who's even heard of it happening. I didn't realise it was connected to utorrent for a while, but I noticed some time ago that it only happens when utorrent's open. It's been the case for quite a while now and I'm certain utorrent is involved.Basically, it seems to disconnect me from the internet almost any time that I have it open for very long. And when I'm thus disconnected, my computer freezes on the "Windows is now shutting down" screen. I'm absolutely stumped, what could utorrent be doing to cause this? Bliam
I don't use it to begin with. Would it still cause this problem if someone else on my network used it?

DreadWingKnight
NOS getPlus seems like spyware to me.PeerGuardian is suspected to interfere with networking and may be part of the problem. Those are the two big flares I see.
Bliam
I usually keep Peerguardian disabled, but I'll try uninstalling it. And I'll look into the NOS thing, too. Thanks. I'll post here again (if the thread's still around later) if it doesn't work.
tarento
If you have a bad/mediocre/failing router, torrenting could cause issues with the rest of your network & other things accessing the net (browser), depending on your speed and connection settings for utorrent (they should be 80-85% max speed, low half connects, low global & individual connects). This is especially true if you're seeding a lot of things; I had to lower all of the above to get my router to not drop or reboot randomly.I would either test with utorrent running at very restrictive settings or bypass your router and see if it happens again. The windows hanging on shutting down has happened to me if utorrent hasn't finished shutting down (in the background) a handful of times, but is likely something else.
