blinches
How come peers dl. are higher by ALOT, say x6 from my DL speed? It's a specific torrent, nevermind which, and I got uTorrent working properly with the port forwarded. I'm having 10 kbits dl rate from 12(80) seeds, and uTorrent shows peer dls ranging from 60 to 280.I got edimax-6204wg, max down speed is (limit) 50, it doesn't get to there though, upload is 5 kbps (limit)Sometimes it doesn't even DL... what is up with that?By the way, what's the "(80)" value means? Thanks in advance! Switeck
Some of us are uploading at faster than 100 KB/sec. We get rewarded more for our efforts. If you're downloading even 5 KB/sec, you're breaking even. Also, your ISP probably sucks:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=58932
blinches
It's a public torrent, I doubt anyone cares about that. Also my ratio is 0.9. It's not a problem, I will seed, but I didn't DL the torrent and they don't upload it. Why are others having such high down rates?2.2mbits downrate, 0.22 uprate. I ran it while uTorrent was on though.I won't get rewarded for seeding.
Switeck
I get rewarded for my upload WHILE I'm downloading.I lower my upload to half, my download drops to 1/3!
blinches
So how much to upload? Can I talk to you in IRC for faster respone to solve this little thing? thanks in advance yet again.
Switeck
Roughly 60-80% of max upload is generally a good rule-of-thumb.2nd link in my signature is a settings chart based on max upload. This assumes you can actually upload in uTorrent as fast as speed tests show! blinches
why uploading is necesarry? who decides if I get higher speed if I upload more? :SSounds weird man.
DreadWingKnight
why uploading is necesarry? If no one uploads, no one downloads. It's that simple. If you upload reasonably for your connection, you will be rewarded. That's how BitTorrent works.
Switeck
EVERY peer you connect to chooses who THEY upload to based on who gives them the most download speed. If you upload very little to them, they may even block you from downloading from them. On torrents with lots of seeds, this isn't a big deal...but when you get on torrents with as many or more peers than seeds, if you're not uploading at a reasonable rate potentially EVERY peer may ignore you!
