majax01
Hello,I've gone over the guides that are available and I'm still confused. In the main uTorrent window, my seeds and peers are not updating in the same real time that the "Trackers" tab is.For example, under the tracker tab, it shows 3 peers but in the main windows it shows 4 peers.I can manually update this by selecting "Clear Peer List" under advanced options.I have "Ask tracker for scrape information" checked. Is there any setting I can change to have the main screen update the peers/seeders numbers in real time?I'm using the the latest uTorrent version with Windows XP. DreadWingKnight
Trackers tab can be delayed by the entire announce cycle. This behavior is normal.
majax01
Well, the tracker tab is updating fine. It's the seed/peers in the main torrent window that is the problem.
Ultima
The trackers tab shows tracker scrape data. The torrent jobs list shows the max of the count in the peer cache and the number returned by scrapes. If the peer cache has more, then of course it'll trump the tracker scrape -- and of course clearing the peer cache would reset that.
majax01
Ok, so is it possible to turn off peer cache or to somehow synchronize it with the tracker scrape? It just seems odd for it not to be reporting accurate information.
DreadWingKnight
No, and it's not odd for uTorrent to base its peercounts on the peers that it tries to connect to or the peers that try to connect to it.
Switeck
What is accurate information? If the tracker doesn't see a peer/seed in the last update interval, it may not report it to other peers/seeds.Peers/seeds on "bad" ISPs might even change ips between tracker updates, thus making them seem like a new peer/seed.A tracker could also be misreporting OLD peers/seeds that have long-since left the torrent. To keep track of EVERYTHING on the torrent instantly would require infinite bandwidth for all participants, so it's obviously not practical to do. Ultima
Since when was a tracker *estimate* more accurate than what's in front of you -- particularly when the tracker estimate shows a *lower* count than what you're actually observing (hard data)? That's like denying empirical evidence and preferring theory that contradicts what you see clearly in front of you.(Case-in-point: If I told you that this post contains less than 5 words, would you believe what I'm telling you, or would you believe what you see -- that I've written more than 5 words?)
