Im having exactly the same problem...trying to figure out if its virgin.... availability on torrent is high and it goes fine until after about 5mins everything (d/l &u/l) grinds to a halt. Have enabled protocol encryption but same problems reoccurs, after which i have to restart the reuter to even be able to surf the web. Very strange.... everything was fine when i was using Bitlord...then i reinstalled windows and it was all brand spanking new, installed utorrent which worked on friends connection with Be ISP provider.... but now has become a pain in my ass. Can't sustain downloads even though i am limiting d/l speed to 90kps. Chose speed guide according to 1mbps connection ....

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Have limited bt.connect_speed to 10 and lowered net.max_halfopen to 4 as well as limited global max no of connections to 200....

Are you sure you have 1 megabit/sec USABLE upload speed? (Speed tests show more than that?)

"after which i have to restart the reuter to even be able to surf the web."

Your router or modem cutting out is a severe problem with THEM, not your ISP and not uTorrent...at least if you're using somewhat reasonable settings in uTorrent.

Try the 1st link in my signature, slow speed/interrupted internet part and get back with us with the results...

I to am having a similar problem. Everything starts out fine and about five minutes or so later the list of torrents being downloaded stats going red. All the tracker links seem to die off and cannot be updated. This has only started happening since the last update. I have also had to physically open a port in my router which I never had to do before this last update. Even though the port I opened was being allowed entry, uTorrent was saying it wasn't. Now when I shut down uTorrent, the program closes but the traffic to and from my system continues until I physically close the port down. All this is new since the last update. Never had problems like this before.

Same problem. Strangely, all I have to do to get another few minutes of up/downloading is stop and restart a torrent or make a settings change.

And access to the utorrent site (including forums) is decidedly flaky - it's unavailable a lot of the time. Returns "Document contained no data" and "The connection was refused when attempting to contact forum.utorrent.com." in FF.

Switeck, thanks. I've been through all the posts on the subject and implemented all the recommendations. The problem has only appeared since the update to 1.8.3 build 15722. Before the update uTorrent worked great for me.
