unforgiven_sh
first the info:my connection - 1mb/256kbtorrent - cca 1500 s / 500 l settings - speed guide xxx/256k + max half-open 40 (windows tweaked to 50)im downloading only this one ("well seeded") torrent, and im connected to 68 seeds and 2 peers. my ul speed is normal, 22 kB straight but the dl goes around 50 kB and wont go up. now when i check the peers tab it shows that im downloading from 10 peers only + the two peers im uploading to theres a total of 12 active peers out of 70. what im confused about is:cca 2000 peers of the torrent -> 70 that im connected to -> 12 that im dl from or ul toand as a result of this im getting only around 50 kB of dl where i usually get 100 - 110 kB now i know that uT and the whole BT protocol cant force connections nor ul & dl but is there a way (tweak, option) that i can use to make uT connect ONLY to the peers that i will actually ul to - dl from, or lets say it like this: is there a way to reduce the passive peers so that new (more useful) peers could connect? DreadWingKnight
max half-open 40 (windows tweaked to 50)Don't do this.now i know that uT and the whole BT protocol cant force connections nor ul & dl but is there a way (tweak, option) that i can use to make uT connect ONLY to the peers that i will actually ul to - dl from, or lets say it like this: is there a way to reduce the passive peers so that new (more useful) peers could connect? No there isn't.http://utorrent.com/documentation/connection-setuphttp://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=58404
unforgiven_sh
well too bad something like that isn't already implemented, it would be very useful tough anyway thanx for the replay edit: i use the max half-open tweak since the bearshare times, why it isnt good for BT? Switeck
"max half-open 40 (windows tweaked to 50)"I would also add that if your connection's low-end, you're not running lots of torrents at once (and you really shouldn't be with a low-end connection if you want ANYTHING to download at a reasonable rate of speed!), AND you're having speed problems as well...raising net.max_halfopen to 40 is one of the *WORST* things you can do! Your problems are likely to get worse instead of better, because of OVERLOADS on your networking!
unforgiven_sh
i have lowered the max half-open to the default 8 last night but since then theres not much of a progress of any kindthe thing that helped though is lowering global max and per torrent connections according to the 'alternate speed guide'. now there are 35 peers connected, of which 30 are active most of the time (ul or dl)so thanx for your help
