Diff Issue, Same "Error: The system cannot find the path specified"

I downloaded a torrent and upon 100% completion, I did a Force Re-Check in uT and after a satisfactory 100%, I rar'ed it up and placed it in my archive drive to be forever stored. I go to My Docs\Downloads and proceed to delete the torrent folder containing the files by hand (just a habit, I don't like to delete the torrent data through uT), and I get this error:

"Error: The system cannot find the path specified" for such and such folder and the delete process halts there.

Ok, no worries. I go to the troubleshooting forum (my very first time actually, uTorrent has been that good for me), and I find out that Windows XP does not support a file path that has more than 256 characters (255? Whatever).

Easy fix, I move the downloaded torrent files to root C, Force Re-Check, and find out that I am actually at 97%. No problem I guess, I start the torrent back up and proceed to download the remaining files.

My question is why didn't uTorrent give me an error when the torrent was first added, and let me proceed to muck up my files? Why did it give me a false "100% completion"? Why did it go through re-checking the torrent, and still give me a "100%"? If I didn't bother to delete the files by hand, I would have an incomplete download (because WinRAR didn't give me any error during the archiving and testing process either) and I would have never known there was any hiccup.

Can this be considered a bug? Sorry if this belongs under "Troubleshooting", just that I didn't exactly have any problem that required it to be troubleshot.

And thanks for a solid product. After terabytes of downloads, this is the first and only issue I have come across.

EDIT:

Heh, another bug popped up.

After completing that torrent above, I attempted to delete the torrent data by hand again and received the same "Error: The system cannot find the path specified" on 2 particular folders. This time the directory path does not exceed 255 characters as they are in root C. I didn't notice at first, but the folders in suspect all end in a period:

... "Operating System Concepts 7th Ed."

... "Engineering Materials 2nd Ed."

So I go back and check the torrent download and confirm that the 2 folders are listed in the torrent ENDING in a period and were in fact created by uTorrent. This struck me as odd because AFAIK it is normally not possible for a user to create a file / folder with an invalid name in Windows XP, although I have heard of instances where certain programs might create them. I tried to recreate the bug by downloading the torrent again but this and every time after the folders were created without the ending period, and the files and folders had no errors.

I don't know if Mac OS is able to create folders ending in a period, so I can't figure that the torrent might have been made in an OS other than Windows and the download contents simply is not cross-platform compatible.

Here are the log files, hope they show something of use.
